Celebrating Memorial Day in Atlanta

Memorial Day is a day devoted to honoring those who have served and lost their lives in the United States military. People celebrate Memorial Day in a variety of ways. If you do not have a regular tradition that you take part in on Memorial Day, and you will be in the Atlanta area, there are many things that you can do to celebrate it there.

One of the most popular Memorial Day traditions in Atlanta is the Salute to the Troops that occurs at the park of Stone Mountain. People come to this remembrance program to keep the memory alive of the friends and family that have passed away while in service for the United States. Visitors to this Memorial Day event can enjoy a beautiful ceremony, a light and laser show complete with fireworks that honors the patriotic traditions of America, and the communion of people sharing in their memories.

Many people in the Atlanta area celebrate Memorial Day by attending the Renaissance Festival in Atlanta. There are many activities that the whole family can enjoy at the Renaissance Festival that is held on Memorial Day weekend. Visitors to the festival will enjoy a variety of fun activities, great food, free music, an arts and crafts section, games for adults and children, and the gathering of friends and family during Memorial Day.

Many people who are in the Atlanta area during Memorial Day will want to gather with friends and family that are still alive to remember those who have passed away while in the United States military. Many families will visit the Lanier Lake in Atlanta in order to celebrate Memorial Day. There are many things to do at Lanier Lake that the whole family will enjoy, including hiking on the many trails that surround the lake, fishing in the lake, having picnics on the shore of the beach, various types of water activities, and an assortment of shopping opportunities.

Many people in Atlanta celebrate Memorial Day by attending various parades and services that are offered to remember those who have lost their lives while performing their duties in the military. These events change from year to year, so it is important that you call the city of Atlanta ahead of time to gather the dates and times of such events.

If you will be in the Atlanta area on Memorial Day, there are many things that you can do in order to celebrate this holiday. It is important that you do not lose sight of the intention of this holiday when choosing activities for you and your family to participate in. If you are not familiar with the Atlanta area, but will be visiting it to celebrate Memorial Day, ask friends and family that are local to Atlanta what types of things you can do. But above all, remember to celebrate the lives of the people who lost their lives in the military during your stay in Atlanta over the Memorial Day holiday.
