Memorial Day Celebrations in Washington, D.C.

Memorial Day is widely celebrated in Washington D.C. each year. Many spectacular events and services are held around the Washington D.C. area to hold tribute to those people who have died in military service to the United States. Friends and family members who are left behind gather together to uphold the memory of people who have passed away while protecting their rights and freedoms of American citizens. This article describes some of the activities that you can take part in to celebrate Memorial Day in Washington, D.C.

One of the main Memorial Day events held in Washington, D.C. is the National Parade. This parade is a celebration that is held to remember a variety of people that fought in many wars throughout the history of the United States. All branches of the military are represented in the National Parade and people from all over the country come together to be a part of the National Parade and also to observe it on the sidelines. This is a time-honored traditional celebration that the United States has held in order to observe the Memorial Day holiday.

The Arlington National Cemetery is also a very popular spot for Memorial Day celebrations in Washington D.C. People often gather together to adorn the many monuments that represent the soldiers that have served and lost their lives in the military. The Tomb of The Unknowns often has a ceremony in which a wreath and various flower and plant assortments are presented. There is also a ceremony that is held in order to remember and honor those people who have lost their lives while in the United States military service. People gather together in groups of families and family members in order to place small flags on each monument in the cemetery. Many families will also place cemetery logs on each of the monuments to honor and respect the lives of those who have passed as a result of their military service.

One of the most popular events that occurs to celebrate Memorial Day in Washington D.C is the National Concert. This is a free concert that occurs at the yard of the Capitol of the United States of America. Millions of people gather here to hear the beautiful memorial music provided by an assortment of military bands, the National Symphony Orchestra, and many other famous and beginning musicians. There is a wide array of entertainment, including famous names in entertainment and other performers. If you are unable to visit this concert in person, you may be able to catch it on many local stations in your area.

There are many Memorial Day celebrations in Washington D.C., and if you plan to spend your Memorial holiday there, you should be sure to plan your visit well before Memorial Day as the Washington D.C. area is often very busy on this particular holiday. Any necessary arrangements, such as hotel stay and transportation, should be reserved well in advance of your Memorial Day stay in Washington D.C.
