Memorial plaques denied due to vandalism
At least twice a week, the City’s Recreation Department receives requests to install memorial plaques at Waterfront Park in honor of late Martinez residents. Area traffic fatality totals show large drop
Henderson County saw a large drop in traffic fatalities in 2009, according to information released this week from the Texas Department of Transportation. The county had 19 traffic deaths during 2009, a decease of 29 percent from the 27 the previous year. The Tyler District had an 11-percent dip in fatalities, with the drop in Henderson County topped by Greg County at 53 percent and Van Zandt ...

Several fire departments combat blaze
A 53-foot semi-trailer, its contents and storage structure, and about three acres of grass were destroyed after a fire with unknown origin occurred mid-day Thursday. The fire was near State Highway 31 on County Road 1507. Seven Points Mayor cancels another meeting
SEVEN POINTS — The mayor of this community and his war with the mayor pro-tem of this community, once again surfaced as the weekend approached. Seven Points Mayor Joe Dobbs sent out a press release to area newspapers saying he had canceled another city council meeting which had been posted by Mayor Pro-Tem Hank Laywell.
